    Description

    This vintage 1950's porcelain
    dunbori
bowl with lid is hand-thrown bowl and lid,  hand-painted and moriaged clay slip hand-applied a 3-leaf pattern on both.
    Donburi
(literally "bowl") is a Japanese "rice-bowl dish" consisting of meat, vegetables or other ingredients simmered together and served over rice in an oversized rice bowl which are also called donburi. If one needs to distinguish, the bowl is called
    donburi-bachi
    and the food is called
    donburi-mono
.  Over the years, it has been used for primarily for
    kastudon, oyakadon
and other such Japanese meals. It is without chips, cracks, or damage of any kind that can be seen by eye or felt by hand.  This bowl was not among the items that was chosen by our children or their families to be kept even though it is one of a kind in our household. The bowl measures 4.5" high with the lid in place, 6" diameter, with a 2.375" diameter base and a .5" diameter rise underneath the bowl.  The lid measures 5.25" diameter, 2" top and a .5" rise underneath that serves as a handle to move the lid. The bowl and lid together weigh 1 lb., 1 oz.  All pictures were taken in a camera tent.  The empty 2002 Coke can is not for sale, but to illustrate the size of the complete
    dunbori
bowl.   Will answer all questions promptly.  Will securely package and ship with USPS priority mail.
